Mike grew up on Long Island, New York and has always been around construction or real estate since a very young age. His father was a contractor and real estate agent, so on any given weekend Mike could be found either at the local real estate office with his dad, or at a house being a proud helper while his dad worked on his latest remodeling project. After graduating from high school, Mike joined the navy, where he was a Machinist Mate on the USS Shreveport out of Norfolk, Virginia and was lucky enough to set sail on the Mediterranean Sea.
After leaving the Navy, Mike attended the University of Oklahoma, where he studied petroleum land management, essentially the real estate and contract side of the Oil and Gas industry. Upon graduation he went to work in Houston, where he was actively involved in negotiating for the rights to drill O&G wells and worked on complex agreements with other companies to develop this acreage. During this time, he received his M.B.A from Rice University in Houston and continued working in Acquisitions and Divestitures and got his Real Estate Agent License.
During the industry downturn, in 2019 Mike was laid off and then again in 2021 as a result of Covid-19. This time, he decided that he could use his more than a decade of negotiations and deal making experience and focus 100% of his time on real estate with the Tarpon Realty Team. He saw an underserved market that deserved the same attention to detail, skills and knowledge that the large oil and gas companies relied on that the Tarpon Realty Team could deliver to the residential real estate market, and more specifically Tarpon’s clients.
